Round 7 of the national rallycross championship was hosted by the Talywain radio control racers club.
The day before heavy rain cast doubt in many minds on whether the event would take place. However come race day the sun was shinning and although wet the track looked good.

After drivers briefing round one of qualifying got underway and the tyre choice seemed to be the Hobao angle spike. TQ for the round would go to team CML driver Neil Cragg with the associated rc8 with a time of 10 laps in 5m6.30 with team Losi drivers Darren Bloomfield and Simon Willetts taking 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Round 2 and we would see a reverse in positions for TQ with Darren taking the spot and Neil following in second, third would go to another associated team CML driver Paul Bradby.

Round 3 and TQ would go to Team Losi driver Simon Willetts and Neil Cragg would take second from team mate Paul Bradby. So the overall TQ spot would go to team Associated/CML driver Neil Cragg with Darren Bloomfield in second and Simon Willetts in third.

So to the main final of the day and during the early part of the race we would see Neil Cragg and Darren Bloomfield swop positions a few times before Neil made a mistake. This gave Darren room to settle down and with both drivers on an equal pace Neil Cragg was unable to catch Darren and challenge him before the race was over. So the overall result was 1st Darren Bloomfield, 2nd Neil Cragg and 3rd was David Crompton for team Crono.

This weekend I attended the HONG NOR CUP  which would cater for 3 classes of racing 1/8th rally-X, 1/8th Truggy’s and CRT.5 1/12th scale Truggy, and for me it turned out to be the best meeting I have been to this year. There was a friendly social atmosphere through out the weekend and with the events hosts the East Shrewsbury Buggy Racing Club staging a disco and karaoke in the village hall there was a great fun element to the whole weekend also.
